The blues had prepared to offload their third choice striker “Olivier giroud’ but so far have been unable to secure replacement.The 33 year old striker is desperate to leave Stanford bridge in search of a more regular first team football ahead of Euro 2020.
The striker had fallen behind Tammy Abraham and Mitchy Batshuayi under Frank lampard .Chelsea who initially agreed to a fee with the London rivals “Tottenham Hotspur” have suddenly blocked the transfer on the final day despite other interest shown from both inter and Lazio.
Antonio conte’s inter had already agreed on a deal to secure giroud offering him a two and half year contract with an initial salary of €4 million and would drop to €3.5 million for the following two seasons.
However, lampard claims that he would only give a green light if they are able to secure a replacement for the French striker before 11pm tonight . Giroud had been hoping something positive would come out from the negotiations held but Chelsea’s decision had turn all hopes down leaving Tottenham and Lazio disappointed.
Napoli forward “dries mertens” and Paris saint German striker “Edinson cavani” have both been linked but unsuccessfully concluded their transfer to Chelsea.
Despite lifting their transfer ban, Chelsea has been unable bring any new face to Stanford bridge.
